I’m no one special. Just a thirty-two year old husband and father of one who only just realized he was ready to do something meaningful with his life. I’m through with jobs. I want a career; one that matters. And so I’m resurrecting a childhood dream, one that I had forgotten about for a very long time but has now returned to me with a vengence. I wanna be a cop. To that end I am putting myself through the police academy, begun in January 2010. This blog is the record of my quest, my Police Quest. From your average Joe with no law enforcement experience whatsoever to–hopefully–a full blown member of Every City USA’s finest.
Since I’ll be dealing with matters of the law, I think it best to keep things as anonymous as possible. To that end I will share only these scant details about myself. As I mentioned above, I’m thirty-two, married, with one child. I live in a moderately sized city in Northern California. I think that about covers it. I hope you enjoy my ramblings enough to leave a comment or two. Especially if you happen to be in law enforcement yourself. I’d love any pointers.

I’m an aspiring police officer as well and was wondering if you knew where to find info on the test preparation for police officers.
Also, I am curious to know how you decide what sites you put on your blogroll? I made a police website that teaches people how to prepare to become a cop and am trying to get a little exposure. Let me know! Thanks, and keep up the blogging.
Hi Jack, thanks for stopping by Police Quest. If you’re testing in California you can try the POST website. If you’re not in California, I think most, or at least a lot, of other states also have POST sites you can check out. Or you contact the agency you’re applying with and ask them, they’re usually pretty helpful. Also, I’ve found forums on sites like Officer.com and PoliceOne.com to be helpful.
I found most of the blogs in my blogroll by judicious browsing and googling. If I read a few posts and I liked it, I put it on the blogroll. Nothing more scientific than that. Hope you’ll come back and visit and comment again. And good luck getting hired!
